Being different can be hard! Help your students learn to celebrate the things that make them unique with these self-esteem read aloud activities for the book Zero. Kids will think about how they can remind themselves and others that we all count - even though we're different.

These activities can be used with or without the book Zero by Kathryn Otoshi.

This resource is part of a social emotional book companion bundle and a self esteem activities bundle!

What's Included:

  • Scenario Activity: Kids will read about 6 different characters who feel like they don't count. Then, the kids will give the characters advice and encouragement.

  • 16 Positive Self Talk Matching Puzzles: Kids will look at scenarios and decide which positive self talk statement the person in the scenario could use when they feel like they don't count.

  • "The Value Of Being Unique" Worksheet: Kids will identify the things that make them unique and then celebrate why these things are good!

  • "I Count Because..." Worksheet and Display: Kids will write or draw about the things that make them unique. These worksheets can be used along with the heading provided as a display in your classroom or hallway.

  • Individual, small group or classroom lessons focused on building self esteem

  • To help students learn to embrace the things that make them unique

  • To remind students that everyone counts
